From Naples: Day Trip to the Amalfi Coast

Travel to Positano by way of private car. Arrive at the summit of this picturesque little town and descend slowly toward the beach by way of small narrow streets and ancient alleyways. Pass by numerous houses in vibrant colors facing the sea and unimaginable terraces suspended over the sheer cliff face. Pass by typical ceramic and fabric shops and fragrant gardens filled with orange and lemon trees. Make your way to the church of Santa Maria dell’Assunta and let your guide introduce you to its incredible dome, covered in colored majolica.

Continue along the coast to Amalfi, once a maritime republic in the Middle Ages. Learn about the unique history of a town that went through a period of prosperity in the 10th century thanks to its control of some important ports when the sea trade in the Mediterranean was booming. Visit the Duomo of St. Andrea and the Cloister of Paradise in addition to the shops selling traditional products on the seafront.

Return to Naples by way of Monti Lattari, the mountain range that forms the backbone of the Sorrento Peninsula. Head to the peak reaching the peak to glimpse a truly spectacular view of the entire peninsula of Sorrento, the Amalfi coast, and the sea. From here, you will be able to fully appreciate the beauty of the landscape and the audacity of those who crossed these waters in sailboats with only the wind and their wits to help them.
