About this tour

Join us in a genuine London black cab as we follow the Thames down to the magnificent palace that once belonged to Henry VIII. Ted Lasso fans are in for a special treat! Next it’s largest occupied castle in the world, Windsor Castle, the home of King Charles III.

Your tour includes a pick up of your choice anywhere in London as we pass through the leafy suburbs of London to Hampton Court. We will cross the Thames several times for some great views. At Hampton Court your guide will accompany you around the palace. An audio guide is included in the entrance price. The Tudor kitchens of King Henry VIII still function to this day and if we’re lucky we’ll see a haunch of venison roasted upon an fire. The magnificent chapel is still used for services and Henry’s Great Hall is where you can take a picture of yourself as King (or Queen). Dare you visit the haunted gallery? The sprawling apartments of William and Mary bare testament to the optimism of “The Glorious Revolution” of 1688.

The formal gardens, as designed by King William, still enchant the visitor as does the Great Vine, the largest in the world. If we have time we can visit the maze and rose gardens and perhaps see a game of real tennis.
We pass through Runnymede where over 800 years ago King John agreed to the terms of Magna Carta and so laid down the rule of law and the beginning of constitutional monarchy.

On to Windsor castle now, the home of King Charles III. Started during the reign of William the Conqueror the castle has served as a royal residence for almost a thousand years. The sumptuous St. George’s Chapel is justly famed for its fine fan vaulted ceiling and is the final resting place of many of England’s monarchs including the late Queen Elizabeth II. The sate apartments have a vast collection of art from all over the world, just some of the million pieces that are in the Royal Collection.

Finally we drive through Eton, home of the famous Eton College founded over 500 years ago. Eighteen British Prime Ministers have attended this school as well as two signatories of The Declaration of Independence.

Your tour includes a drop off anywhere you wish, maybe you are off to the theatre or fancy an evening of jazz in old Soho?
