About this tour

Starting at Edinburgh we will travel towards Linlithgow Palace and Stirling Castle. This region is filled with history, so sit back and relax as your driver-guide entertains you. Make your first stop at the South Queensferry to see the UNESCO World Heritage site of Forth Rail Bridge.

From here you will pass by Linlithgow Palace, the place where Mary Queen of Scots was born. After that, if you keep a lookout, you can catch a glimpse of the Kelpies. These 30-metre-tall horse head sculptures need to be seen and believed. Shortly after Kelpies, you will pass by Stirling Castle which was 15 times under siege and played an important strategic role in this area.

Shortly you arrive to Callander which is on the edge of the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. After stopping here you will continue with your journey to the Highlands, so make sure to get your cameras ready as the scenery will be magnificent. The highlands are home to shimmering lochs, rugged mountains, and forest-filled glens. Due to the stunning nature, one can forget that these were once battlegrounds for fiercely territorial Highland clans.

Stopping in Glencoe, which is one of the most famous natural landmarks in all of Scotland, it boasts steep slopes and photogenic peaks. Yet, a tragic tale has haunted this valley for over 300 years. You will explore a glacial valley known as the Great Glen and pass under the shadow of Ben Nevis, Britain’s tallest mountain.

After this visual feast of mighty inclines, you will arrive at Fort Augustus on the banks of Loch Ness. At 23 miles long and over 700ft deep, Loch Ness is the largest loch by volume in Scotland. You can search for the infamous monster on a relaxing boat cruise, wander around the shores of the loch at your own pace, and grab a bite to eat.

Your journey towards the south will be packed full of classic Highland scenery, traveling through the curvy Cairngorms National Park, along Loch Laggan.

Enjoy a break at Dalwhinnie Distillery and shortly after make a final stop at Pitlochry before coming back to Edinburgh.
