Pompeii is an ancient Roman city known as it was destroyed by a strong volcanic eruption in 79 AD. This historical event led to the total destruction of the city, but since then excavations have led to the rediscovery of the ancient city of Pompeii, on the Civita hill. Over the years, this has led to the curiosity of visitors so much so that this archaeological site became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997. Furthermore, the site of Pompeii, in 2016, exceeded three million visitors, becoming the third most visited state museum site in Italy after the Pantheon and the Colosseum.
